Check For Termites Before They Damage Your Home

Termites are sneaky. They can burrow and eat away at your home without you ever knowing it. However, when you do eventually notice them, it’s far too late. Termites can make you and your family uncomfortable in your own home. This is not how you want to live. Protect your family. Here are some signs you may have termites:

Head Banging

We’re not accusing you of rocking out to loud music. Termite soldiers will bang their heads or shake their bodies to warn the colony that danger is nearby. This sounds like a clicking noise coming from behind your walls or below your floorboards.

Flying Termites

For most, they notice termites when they see them flying around their home. These termites are called swarmers or alates. These termites can be male or female. They have left their home to find a mate and start a new colony.

Hollow Sounding Timber

If you notice that some timber sounds hollow when you knock or tap on it, you may have what are called drywood termites. They eat the wood from the inside out, leaving a thin veneer or wood or paint on the outside.

Wood Tunnels

Also known as galleries, these wood tunnels are a sign that termites have set up camp in your home. While you may not be able to see these tunnels in a solid piece of wood, you may be able to find them in a broken piece of timber.
